2009 Events
Cowichan Theatre - Telus Lobby

5:00-6:30 pm

A mix and mingle event, where you can meet the guest artists and film makers, and take part in the opening of the festival’s gallery of artists. The Opening Ceremonies for the 2009 Cowichan International Aboriginal Film Festival will immediately follow the reception with theatre doors opening to the public at 6:30 pm.

Our Coast Salish Menu:
Smoked Salmon and Candied Salmon Nuggets, Venison Meatballs with Maple BBQ Sauce, Grilled Salmon Skewers, Crab Cakes with Smoked Chipotle Dip, Grilled Vegetable Skewers with Elderberry Glaze, Scow Bread & Fried Bread served with Salmon Spread & Blackberry Jam, Blackberry Tarts, Wild Raspberry Tea. No host beverage bar featuring local wines.

Festival Gallery of Artists Opening
The Coast Salish Gala Reception marks the Opening of the Festival Gallery of Artists. Each year our gallery of artists features the work of internationally recognized aboriginal artists working in a variety of mediums: carvers, painting, prints, fabric art, masks, jewelry, drums, knitters. This year we are pleased to showcase the works of the following artists and artisans:
