The World Drum
The World Drum has journeyed since 2006 visiting in its travels over 350 locations worldwide and is arriving in Duncan August 11, 2010 to participate in ceremonies and celebrations over three days. The Drum was created in response to a sacred vision by a medicine man and drum maker of the Sami Indigenous people of Norway and is a wakeup call to humanity, a symbol of the circle of life, inviting us to remember that we all are connected. The vision is to join people together across race, religion, borders, cultures, ethnicity, colors or political conviction. Its drum beat calls us to action and asks that we work together to protect the earth and future generations. It calls us back to ceremonies, to the connection to our ancestors, to each other and to the living land that supports us.
